Oldblue Flutes &
Wood Working
Woodworking minus patience equals firewood. (Anon.)
A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist. ~Louis Nizer (1902–1994)
Oldblue Flutes was a revelation that came to Sid while working in his wood shop. He has been a custom cabinet and furniture maker for over thirty years, professionally and as a hobby. He has always loved the sound and beauty of Native American flutes. With that idea was the birth of Oldblue Flutes & Woodworking.
After research and study for hundreds of hours, combined with his knowledge of wood and woodworking, he made his first flute and has not stopped since. Chris owned a home decor business and adds to the creativity. As a couple they work well together as they create a product of polished aesthetics.
Sid & Chris are high school sweethearts, married for 51 years, with 5 children, 17 grands and 7 great-grands.

Questions and Answers
If you don't find an answer to your question(s) below please feel free to contact Us at [email protected]
Q. Are your flutes tuned to the Pentatonic Scale?
A: Yes, all our flutes are tuned to the Pentatonic Scale. This means all are in a minor scale, a key of C would be a C minor a C# would be a C# minor and so on.Q: Can I order a 6 hole flute?A: Sorry, we only make 5 hole traditional style Native American Flutes.Q: Do you accept custom orders?A: Yes, if we don't have in stock what you'r looking for we will work with you to produce what you have in mind.Q: What is the finish on your flutes?A: It is a lacquer finish on the out side. The inside is oiled with food grade mineral oil. Flutes should be oiled every other month or so.Q: What is the dry time for lacquer?A: Lacquer cures in about three days so that we can decorate and work with them. They will totally cure in about 30 days.Q: Are your flutes all hand-crafted?A: Yes, nothing is mass produced. Each flute is one of a kind and the flute you see is the one we ship.Q: Are all your flute bags one size?A: We make a mid-range bag to fit flutes under 19" and a large to fit ones over 19". We will make a custom size if you request it.
